GOD’S GPS

  • PDF

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” John 14: 6

“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “ This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30: 21
Many people these days don’t travel any where without their GPS (Global Positioning System) especially when they are traveling by car to an unfamiliar place. It doesn’t matter whether the GPS they have is Garmin or Tom-Tom, or any other unit they have to rely on it to bring them to their destination.

Earlier this year, we had an occasion to go to Florida. As we planned to drive there we took along our GPS. In Miami, we got our rental car and started out to go to Orlando. Unfortunately, our GPS could not locate our destination. It kept giving us wrong information, or could not find the city on the map. We know we are in Miami, but the GPS kept giving us direction good for British Columbia. We ended up asking directions from real people. When we got back we went to where we bought the unit.

They told us that the machine has to be updated to such and such, and we have to pay about the same price of the unit. Happily, last week, we used it in Calgary, and the thing worked like a charm even if it was not updated.
In 1939, King George V of England addressed the Empire with this words, ““I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year, ‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’ And he replied, ‘Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.’”

God’s GPS is always right and never needs updating. He says “I AM the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” When we walk in His way, we will never ever get lost because His way is always right. We get another prompt from the Holy Spirit when we seem to doubt where we are headed. When we begin to veer away from the right path because the devil is trying to distract us, Isaiah 30: 21 tells us, ““Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “ This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.”. That is the Holy Spirit telling us where to go. The Bible says in the Proverbs that “There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is death.”
Note the words “Seems right to a man.”

Sometimes the way may be broad and smooth but Jesus said “13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because[a] narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it”. Matthew 7: 13, 14 Walking in God’s way may prove difficult to those who want to walk their own way, because walking in God’s way entails carrying our own Crosses and following God all the way. It means obedience to God’s will and following His directions. But that road will lead us to life everlasting.. When the children of Israel tried to go against God’s will and tried to go to Canaan with out the Pillar of Cloud ahead of them, they found out that the road was rough and their enemies ambushed them right and left. When God was with them there was no enemy on the road because God knew the way and lead them to safe paths. Jeremiah told God’s people “16 Thus says the LORD: “ Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Jeremiah 6:16. That was deliberate sinning and for this, as one of the prophets said, “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind.” Hosea 8:7. They reaped the whirlwind that scattered them all over the world, especially the people of the northern kingdom of Israel who were scattered by the Assyrians. Because they did not walk in the way of the Lord, the prophecy against them as stated in the curses found in Deuteronomy 28. All the conditions hinged on Israel obeying the Lord with whom they made a covenant.

We can find the way of the Lord in His written Word, the Bible. There is only One Way to heaven and that is Jesus, Satan tries to make counterfeit ways in order to deceive people to turn from the True Way while thinking they are in the Right Way. Remember what we said about the thinking we in the right way? Proverbs 14: 12 says, “ There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.”. When Israel was in Sinai, God gave to them a “Road Map” the Real GPS that they should follow all their lives. Actually, this road map is a reiteration of the commandments promulgated in Eden after the Creation. After creating the world, God rested on the seventh day and blessed it. God never changed His day of rest even if other people say He did. Satan tried to change it by saying Sunday is the day of rest. Read the Bible and we will never find a verse that says God changed the day of rest. God’s Word is true and when we trust Him we will never be lost. The Holy Spirit will constantly guide is in the old paths where the good way is and we will find rest for our souls.

Another way that Satan is using to waylay people from their intention to reach heaven is his introducing the theory of evolution. It is a direct opposition to what God did in Creation. God teaches that He created us in His own image, but Satan says “No people came from monkeys or lowlifes in the process of hundreds of millions of years”, and many people chose to believe him than God. Since I was born up to now, the monkeys in the zoo are still producing monkeys not men and since history began to be recorded, men produced men and horses were still producing horses. This is one thing that evolutionists don’t see or don’t want to see. I rather believe God when He said I was created in His own image than Darwin who had to swallow some of his words in later life. Balaam said to Balak, “19 “God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that    He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?

Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Numbers 23: 12. So, folks, it pays to follow God’s way because when we go out into the darkness and put our hand into the hand of God, that shall be to us better than light and safer than a known way. God bless.
