Controversy puts Villar in jeopardy

The damaging effect of C-5 controversy is ripping the reputation of presidential aspirant Manny Villar. Nearly three months before the election, Senator Villar’s dream of leading the country for the next six years is put to the test. His capability of handling pressure is definitely on the line considering he’s gaining ground on the latest survey against his political rivals.
It can be recalled he was accused of allegedly profiting from the C-5 extension road project, some years ago.

To make things worst, Senate president Juan Pnce Enrile exposed that the realty magnate tries to bribe him to persuade other senators in changing their recommendation. Enrile’s revelation would trigger Villar’s detractors to prove that their accusation was right. The Nationalista bet should come out with a counter statement that would dismiss any criticism pointing to him. He must provide a detailed explanation if he’s dead serious in fulfilling his ultimate goal of becoming the Chief Executive. A tall order for Villar to iron out things since this will be used by his fellow candidates to gain advantage.

With this development, the only thing that could bail out Villar from disaster is to get the majority of the senate. Currently the senate is divided into two faction, Villar’s ally and those who recommended for his censure. Amid the controversy, Villar is accusing the Liberal Party as the source of the senate report. He’s blaming the politics as the root of all this brouhaha, now that he’s threatening his political foes. A scenario that is familiar especially to all the politicians, it has been proven in the past and it will go on in the future polls.
