NORTH VANCOUVER – Members of the Filipino Canadian community and their friends had a blast of a party held on December 19 here at the Delbrook Recreation Centre Gym. Dubbed as Jingle Bell Rock 09, the gathering featured a sumptuous dinner, several raffle prizes, songs, and dancing to everyone’s delight. Organized every year by kuya Alvin Relleve, with the gracious support given by North Shore Mitsubishi, the Philippine Asian News Today and Philippine Asian Chronicle, Times Telecom and UMAC, the event was also highlighted by a Children’s Christmas party and lots of prizes from several “Lingkod-Bayan” professionals.
The honorable Philippine Consulate General, Ruth Morales Prado, gave her Christmas message Kuya Alvin Relleve to the Filipinos in attendance, as well as thanked them for their continuous support to their home country in the recent calamities that struck the Philippines. In a way, the celebration was also a way of thanking CONGEN Prado for her service to the Filipino community of Vancouver, this being her last Christmas party before the end of her term and retirement in June 2010. Kuya Alvin led the Filipinos in expressing their gratitude to the Consul General. The event had Pinoys looking forward to next year’s party, which, without doubt, is anticipated to be another spectacular success.
