This year’s holiday celebration will kick off early for most BC based Filipinos. Pockets of Filipino gatherings have started last weekend to drumbeat the fast approaching season. As an example, Tri-City CFC Chapter’s Praise Festival highlighted traditional Christmas carols followed by feasting in a sumptuous buffet of home cooked Christmas food specialties like Embotido, Menudo, Lechon, Pancit Malabon and native delicacies like SapinSapin, Biko, Bibingka, Cassava Cake. Then, a special gift-giving activity by Santa Claus was a big hit among children.
Come this weekend, we look forward to a bigger and exciting Filipino gathering called ‘Paskong Pinoy sa PNE’, also known as 2010 Christmas Gifts and Food Fair. A 2-day event ‘Paskong Pinoy sa PNE’ brings in non-stop entertainment featuring stars who are flying from Manila just for this event and equally talented local talents; Filipino popular foods and goodies for holiday giveaways.
I am having myself available to come on Saturday at PNE before crossing the border to attend a Fall Commencement ceremony ay Spokane University, Washington. I am looking forward to savor the Fiesta Pina Ham which will be available for every Filipinos’ Noche Buena table this Christmas season.
Incidentally, Purefoods Corned Beef and Luncheon Meat are now available in your favorite Filipino stores in Vancouver as shared by Glenn Ong, an exclusive distributor of Purefoods products in North America.
We are glad to know that our favorite Filipino products that we grew up with are now available in Canada. See you at PNE on Saturday, December 11.
