Families are always excited to watch Disney on Ice because of the new adven­tures shown everytime. We watched the Disney on Ice presents DISNEY•PIXAR’S TOY STORY 3 last November 23 at PNE and as usual it was a sold out event. The show keeps on getting beter and better every year. This was so spectacular the show filled with Toy Story characters from the block­buster animated movies, it also featured incredible 3-D technology and a world-class group of skaters that delighted the audience members from age zero to one hundred. Gig Siruno, who was formerly a skater-and line captain with Disney on Ice, is the show’s performance director. As part of the Disney on Ice team, Gig, who is Fili­pino in backgroud, had performances in China, South Korea and Europe.

As for Gig, he couldn’t have picked a better time to come to the Lower Main­land, as the mountains are just opening. He says if he could be a professional ath­lete in any other sport he’d pick Snow-boarding. “It’s the inner thrill junkie in me.”

From Andy’s Room, to the Pizza Planet in Act One and a Dream World to the Trash Incinertaor in Act Two, the sets in Disney On Ice presents Disney • Pixar’s Toy Story 3 were intergral to the audience feeling like theywere a part of the show. Scenic Designer Joe Stewart, an award winning designer who has won both Daytime and Primetime Emmys throughout his illustri­ous career, was responsible for creating a space where the audience becomes a part of the toy world.

“For the audiences I think the scale of the set will be amusing, fun and exciting because you don’t get a chance to see things like how big a marble or a football is from a toy’s perspective,” says Stewart. “And I think children will be amazed by the giantness of the toys, and that they do have a three-dimensional quality to them.”

The Chairman and CEO of Feld Enter­tainment, Inc., Kenneth Feld has overseen many spectacular productions including the Disney On Ice presents Disney • Pixar’s Toy Story 3. “Disney On Ice is really a unique form of family entertainment,” says Feld. “It is storytelling in a new way. Disney On Ice actually brings the Disney magic to people all over the world, right in their hometown.”
