Aiza Seguerra’s “Ano’ng Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa” Wins Himig Handog P-pop Love Songs

The song “Ano’ng Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa” written by Jovinor Tan of Malabon City and inter­preted by Aiza Seguerra won first place in the country’s largest mul­timedia songwriting competition, “Himig Handog” with the theme, “Pinoy Pop (P-POP) Love Songs: Mga Awit at Kwento ng Pusong Pilipino” from ABS-CBN and Star Records. The concert held last night at the SM MOA Arena featured the performances of the country’s finest OPM artists who served as interpreters for the 12 final­ists. The original compositions that received the top awards were the following: “Hanggang Wakas” performed by Juris Fer­nandez and written by Soc Villan­ueva placed second; “If You Ever Change Your Mind” performed and written by Marion Aunor placed third; “Scared to Death” sung by KZ Tandingan and writ­ten by Domingo Rosco Jr. placed fourth; and “Kahit Na” performed by Toni Gonzaga and written by Julius James de Belen placed fifth.

The ROSARIO STRINGS, a name synonymous with contem­porary and modern classical mu­sic, is once again poised to enter­tain all you lovers of the musical art – and this time dance aficio­nados as well – when they debut their brand new repertoire in their coming March 15 concert – or more appropriately dubbed “dan­cert” (the amalgam of a concert and dance). The event features a superb interfusion of timeless romantic classical favourites, ball­room standards, jazz and this time sounds from our own generation including selections from the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Cold play and others.
This is a slight diversion from the repertoire that the group has been well known to play.

To Ria’s immediate left is Dan Green, an established songwriter in Canada; extreme left is music producer Greg Stuart.Ria Diy (aka Ria Jade), a 15-yr old multi-talented singer/songwriter/musician, performed as front act at Goldie's Special Valentine Concert at the Hippo's Grill in Vancouver. Performing two of her most recent original compositions, the statuesque teen opened the show and introduced Goldie with her usual impressive hosting skills and eloquence on and offstage.

March 9, 2013 (Saturday) at Vogue Theatre, Granville Street, Downtown Vancouver. Parokya Ni Edgar is a Filipino band that was formed in 1993 by a group of college students. The band is famous and most lauded for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical coversof popular songs. The band has since transcended musical genres, varying styles from one song to another -alternative rock to pop rock, funk to rapcore, and so on - while providing comic relief to their listeners. Despite having “Edgar” in the band’s name, none of the members go by it.

Jerrica Santos wins Variety’s Got Talent

Jerrica Santos was named the winner of the third annual Variety’s Got Talent competition Saturday night (February 9) at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, beating out nine other contestants. The 24-year-old from Surrey gave a bold, rocking performance of Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy, draw­ing the audience in with her deep, R&B-flavoured take on the song.
