Irene Lumayag and MJ Ancheta are definitely on the way to fulfilling their dreams. On May 19, the young Irene Lumayag, North Delta student, won as champion in the 2012 B.C. Junior Talent Search contest.The 14-year-old triumphed in the category for 13- to 18-year old con­testants. MJ Ancheta, won the 6 to 12 Category BC Junior Talent Search 2012

There were 7 finalists in this Category. MJ is PNT Singing Idol champion for the month of April and she will be on the Grand Finals by Septem­ber 2012. Lumayag is a familiar face to many in the Filipino Canadian community. The Grade 9 secondary student started singing at the age of three. She also attended the Center for Pop Music in the Philippines. The rising talent was also a finalist in 2006 PNE Star Discov­ery grand event. Lumayag is likewise a couver Idol Champion in the year 2006.

 

The community’s prestigious PNT Sing­ing Idol served as a home to Lumayag. She’s a PNT Idol emcee and talent. She was also the 2011 PNT Idol 1 st runner-up winner. Aside from singing, Lumayag plays the piano. She writes her own songs. Lumayag has also collaborated with suc­cessful songwriters such as Ron and Sue Irving . Ron works with Michael Buble. Sue is a former president of the Song­writer Association of Canada. Lumayag’s Influ­ences include Be­yonce , the Fugees, Bruno Mars, and Michael Jackson. She’s into R&B and pop.
One thing that fans should anticipate is the release of one or two of her songs that she co-wrote with Ron and Sue Irving. The release may happen this summer.
