Leading the celebration, which will be held on July 14 at the Plaza of Nations, Vancouver, Canada from 1:00 to 7:00 PM, are Pinoy King of Soul Janno Gibbs and ultimate singing champion Rachelle Ann Go. The festival will pay tribute to music by all-time favourite Filipino artists including Francis Magalona, Side A Band, Rivermaya, Sampaguita, Aegis, Rey Valera, and Regine Velasquez, amongothers. It will also showcase theme songs from some of the past and present teleseryes shown on GMA Pinoy TV, the flagship international channel of GMA Network, Inc., as part of its mission of bringing Filipinos closer to home through quality entertainment.
“We look forward to taking part in this special affair and celebrating with our Kapuso viewers in Vancouver. We promise to offer them a vibrant and colorful musical event as we reminisce the good old days of OPM,” says GMA International Vice President and Head of Operations Joseph T. Francia.
As the event aims to celebrate local music and bring Filipinos closer through charitable work, raffle tickets worth two dollars ($ 2.00) each will be sold to help raise funds for GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc., MV-PACES Metro Vancouver Philippine Arts & Culture Exposition Society, FCHSS - Filipino Canadian Cultural Heritage Society, West Coast Domestic Worker’s Association, and Multicultural Helping House Society. All of the proceeds will go to the chosen beneficiaries.
“We’re so excited to celebrate Filipino Canadian Marketing Group’s (FCMG) 7th Year Anniversary thru the OPM Festival. This Music Festival is our way of thanking Greater Vancouver Filipino Community’s support all throughout the years of our humble operations. And it is definitely an honour to have been given this great opportunity to partner with GMA Network, Inc.,” says Faye Nalicat-Auyong, President of FCMG, Inc.
As a reminder to the public, the venue is located at 750 Pacific Blvd in Vancouver, which is a few minutes walk from the BC Stadium Skytrain Station. It is close to the downtown business district, trendy Yale- town, historical Gastown and Chinatown. Paid parking is also available.
