It was another magi­cal night as Star Magic celebrated the 5th annual ball at The Peninsula Ma­nila Hotel in Makati City last September 3. Enter­ing the hotel lobby im­mediately led the guests to the event’s red carpet where the press was eager to take photos of the ce­lebrities in their suits and gowns. The press had a hayday with the arrival of much-talked about stars Melissa Ricks, Maricar Reyes, Di-ether Ocampo, Sam Milby, Maja Salvador, Matteo Guidicelli, Ger­ald Anderson and Kim Chiu to only name a few.

Couples created much chaos as everyone tried to guess who came with who. Real-life sweethearts Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion, Angelica Panganiban and Derek Ramsay, John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Mag­dayao, Melai Cantiveros and Ja­son Francisco plus the very much pregnant Kristine Hermosa with husband Oyo Sotto left every one in awe. On-screen tandems En­chong Dee and Erich Gonzales, Empress and Ejay Falcon, Rafael Rosell and Jodi Sta. Maria, Kath­ryn Bernardo and Enrique Gil, Ju­lia Montes and Sam Concepcion, Jessy Mendiola and Joseph Marco, Zanjoe Marudo and Bea Alonzo were all equally intriguing to those who saw them at the red carpet.

Guest host Martin Nievera sang Shine, a song that he composed for the Star Magic ball. Chokoleit and Pokwang with Vhong Navarro and Angelica Panganiban added to the fun by giving hilarious spot on impersonations of Robin Pa­dilla and Kris Aquino respectively. With lively performances by sing­ing champions Angeline Quinto, Yeng Constantino, Bugoy Drilon, Marcelito Pomoy, Jovit Baldivino with Vina Morales and new Star Magic Kapamilya Erik Santos. Headed by Julia Montes, Kath­ryn Bernardo, Xyriel Manabat and Zaijian Jaranilla, Star Magic new breed of stars ended the program in a grand cotillion with PGT’s NeilBeth and Happy Feet.

John Lloyd Cruz won the pres­tigious Star Magic Icon award. The blockbuster actor dedicated his award to Mr. Johnny Manahan whom he regards as the true icon for Mr. M’s contribution in Star Magic through the years. Zan­joe Marudo and Bea Alonzo won the Moet and Chandon Fab Pair award. Kim Chiu was awarded the Drop-Dead Stunner award, for she was truly a real-life Barbie doll in a white Francis Libiran gown. Jessy Mendiola and Enrique Gil were given the Breakout Style award while Diether Ocampo and Maricar Reyes got the Most Stylish Male and Female award. Cristine Reyes took home the Standout award. Piolo Pascual and KC Con­cepcion were Star Magic’s Choice Fashionistas. It was no surprise when Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales won Star Magic’s Favorite Couple for the Night as the Maria la Del Barrio stars definitely looked cute together.

It was an unexpected treat to see other celebrities like Rowell Santiago, Randy Santiago, Agot Isidro, John Estrada with wife Priscilla Mierelles, Heart Evange­lista, Paulo Avelino, Billy Craw­ford, Gabby Concepcion, Nikki Gil, Sam Pinto, Lovie Poe, Iya Vil­lania, Marie Digby, Jhong Hilario, Vhong Navarro, Venus Raj, Valerie Concepcion, Dondon Hontiveros and Gretchen Barretto, who all added glitter to the already star-studded evening. Star Magic Ball 2011 was definitely one unforget­table night of fun and relaxation for the Kapamilya celebs. Also in attendance were Bench Ben Chan and Miguel Pastor, Arsi Baltazar,Liza Gokon­gwei, Robina Gokongwei, Lawrence Tan, Atty.
