VANCOUVER – Happy New Year everyone! We have good reason to be optimistic this year as we have already calendared some of the huge events and festivals in the community we feverishly launched in the previous year.

In the Reyfort Media Group, we believe that there is no substitute for being three steps ahead in terms of preparations and planning. A prepared mind will always hurdle obstacles when the goings get tough.

For instance, the popular “Paskong Pinoy sa PNE” we christened last December 2010 is still 11 months away, but initial groundwork has already been laid to give exhibitors leeway and enough time to prepare their goods and gimmicks. Kanya kanyang gimmick and style ika nga.

Thus immediately after the conclusion of the two-day event last December 11-12, we left no stone unturned to announce the start of reservations for the 2011 version of the event otherwise known as Christmas Gifts and Food Fair.

We have actually unveiled our “initiatives” calendar as early as November 2010 when our family, consisting of Philippine Asian News Today, Philippine Showbiz Today, Living Today, R&B productions and Balitang Vancouver, converged at the conclusion of the advertisers’ appreciation night held at Holiday Inn Vancouver Centre on West Broadway.

Last October 25, was an evening of revelation to most of the CEOs, entrepreneurs and professionals who attended the appreciation dinner and business presentation of the ReyFort Media Group at the grand ballroom of Holiday Inn in Vancouver. They’ve come to realize how big the Filipino media network has become and its various multimedia vehicles that they can use in launching and promoting their products and services to the Filipino community.

To recall, I and my wife Cely, chair and CEO of ther Reyfort Media Group, commended the advertisers and prominent community leaders and government officials led by Raly Tejada, acting head of post of the Philippine Consulate general’s office, for their numerous efforts in serving the business community by way of the outfit’s diverse media opportunities and their active leadership and involvement in the community biggest events that unite the Filipinos of British Columbia.

The core of business owners and entrepreneurs were given a presentation of the mar keting, advertising and promotions tools that they can use to plan their 2011 marketing strategies.

Receiving much applause was the presentation of Carlito Pablo, ReyFort Media’s VP for Media, on his announcement of an increase in the circulation of PNT and PST plus the printer’s mark of assur ance for the quantity of copies printed. Another highlightof his presentation was the actual pho tos of the seven SkyTrain stations showing the ReyFort Media shelves augmenting the distribution areas of the various papers.

Also, ABS CBN veteran Marieton Pacheco made a lively presentation of the birth and success of Balitang Vancouver, the only Filipino TV news program reaching the entire province on regular Channel 8 at OMNI. “They’re new, but they’ve come a long way into professional production of the show!” was an opinion heard from one of the entrepreneurs present that night.
The evening host, “style by Jury” TV personality and coach, Harvey Cohen introduced Joey Albert, who launched her forthcoming TV talk show “The Joey Albert Show” that night. It was given a very warm reception by the audience, with some committing already to book their ads for the program. Joey was overwhelmed by how much her show was received by the audience.

Towards the end, Phil Dela Merced, president & CEO of Palengkeng Pinoy Trade & Exchange Network, an affiliate company of the ReyFort Media Group, announced the “Paskong Pinoy sa PNE” Christmas celebration and invited the audience to the event. Several companies signified their intentions of getting merchandise booths to take advantage of the direct marketing opportunity with thousands of attendees to the event. Among the highlights and announcements that received very positive appreciation and acceptance were the following: PRINTER’S CERTIFICATION ON QUANTITY OF CIRCULATION; STRATEGIC DISTRIBUTION SCHEME; “THE JOEY ALBERT SHOW”; “BATANG CANUCK” KIDS TV PROGRAM; TINIG FILIPINO BROAD CASTING COMPANY (TFBC); THE 2011 MAHARLIKA AWARDS; SE ASIAN B2B TRADE EXPO 2011; and FILCAN IMPROV LAUGH FEST.
So tighten your belts, folks, and join as in our year-long events starting this month of January.
