Pinoy bet runner-up in Asian Karting Open in Macau

Fifteen-year-old Franco Reyes led the Philippines’ strong showing in the finals of the re­cently concluded 2011 Ma­cau International Kart Grand Prix and the Asian Karting Open Championships (AKOC). Reyes was the runner-up at the AKOC at the Kartrodomo De Coloane in Macau, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

“Reyes led the Philippine pack by winning runner-up honors in the Formula 125 Junior Open of the (AKOC) and third overall in the series, which was partici­pated in by 20 kart racers from seven different countries,” it said.Estefano Rivera, another Pinoy bet, caught the attention of the organizers by finishing fourth in the Asia-Pacific KF3 Cham­pionship dominated by Den­mark, Hong Kong and Japan.

Six other Filipinos participated in the international racing event, including: Rivera’s brother Milo, Jette Calderon, Xedrei Daquigan, Carl Pollington, Roberto Domingo and Archim Lorenz Lagman. The Macau International Kart Grand Prix incorporating the Asian Karting Open Champion­ships is an annual event organized by the Automobile General Asso­ciation Macau-China (AAMC), and supported by the Macau Sport Development Board and the Ma­cau Tourist Office.
